Hi Sweet Friends! I’ve been wanting to get this post out for a while now because this DIY is SO good and SO easy. To be completely honest here, I have tried serums from sooo many different brands, some as expensive as $300+ per bottle! Nothing has worked like this glow serum, the results are instantaneous and instead of spending crazy money “brand name” serums, why not go directly to the source, essential oils! So many of the serums I have tried actually market themselves as being “derived from plants” but when you have the purest essential oils at your fingertips, this starts to sound kind of silly, like “nice try! I’ll just grab them from my shelf!”.
Also, very important to consider are the oils you use. You’ll want to use the best you can get your hands on so that you are assured there are no chemical fillers or fragrances going on your skin, or that the oil is diluted. I use oils from Young Living because they are the longest and most established essential oil company I have found, and because they have a seed to seal promise which means nothing is altered from the time the essential oil begins as a seed to when it is sealed in the bottle.
So, to make the glow serum you’ll want to use copaiba, frankincense and lavender. The combination of these three essential oils does wonders for your skin. For me, it calms redness and inflammation, evens out my skin tone, moisturizes it, and gives it a “glow” that lasts all day. I use it morning and night, after I wash my face (I’m currently rotating between YL’s new charcoal bar soap and ART Gentle Cleanser) and before makeup. I also dab a tiny amount on my cheekbones and tip of my nose after makeup instead of using a traditional “highlighter” because the subtle shine to me looks better and more natural than a shimmer.
I use it around my eyes and on my lips as well so it doubles as a lip and eye treatment.
Here is what you do:
Put 10 drops each of Lavender, Copaiba and Frankincese into a 1 oz. amber glass dropper which you can get on Amazon here. Fill the rest with an organic jojoba oil which you can get here or at Whole Foods. Shake it up and drop about two drops onto your face. Gently rub it in and you’re done!
Each of these essential oils come in the starter kit which you can learn about here. It’s honestly the best value because you get 11 essential oils, a diffuser and a membership to Young Living which grants you 24% off anything and everything they offer! We have switched over to a non-toxic household with Young Living and I get everything from my toilet scrubber, counter spray, laundry detergent, kids bath soaps, lotions, etc… I have SO much peace of mind knowing we aren’t breathing in harmful chemicals and using safe products on our bodies. We get sick less, sleep better, and are generally happier since making the switch! I know that sounds absolutely crazy but it’s true.
