My Fitness & Diet Routine

Hola Chicas! I’m writing to you tonight (Thursday) after what has been a HELLISH week, or two weeks really. We’ve had two terrible flu cycles, first little Brian who had a stomach bug that turned into flu (or was the flu all along?), then me, to the point where I was in bed basically unable to move or speak. TWO THINGS, thank GOD for moms, mine flew home from Florida to help take care of Brian and Grace when I was down and out, and TAMIFLU, that sh*t works. I got it in the middle of the night on Saturday and it was gone yesterday. Also, thank goodness for my dear husband who stayed home from work on Monday and was dad extrodinare.

Now, onto the fun stuff! I wanted to touch base on my diet and fitness regimen since it’s been quite some time since I’ve posted about #purejoybodyback. As you know I did the 28-Day Jumpstart back in October to get rid of the lingering 10 from pregnancy and it worked (not in 28 days but by the holidays I was back into pre-baby clothes)!. I will say that the 28-Day Jumpstart did one thing well, it taught me how to eat better and if I could give you a super quick takeaway it’s, eat more protein and limit processed carbs and foods, duh.

I had pretty much lost the weight but I wanted to feel strong and in shape and I wasn’t. I was attempting to get to the gym about 2 to 3 times per week (thanks to the babysitting room!) and doing 30 minutes of cardio plus some weights but it was difficult to get there and it wasn’t consistent… at all. Work was busy and there was just always something to do instead. SO, in January, I partnered with Brad of Bradley Fitness to get me into shape. I wanted a workout routine that I could do at home and that was tailored to my body to help me in achieving my ultimate goals: be strong and live healthy for family (and tone up for summer). We’re three months in and I have never felt stronger or better in my body. I can lift Brian with such ease and feel like I could run a marathon with him in my arms, Gracie, too 🙂

I used to hate working out and now I LOVE IT. Brad comes to my house on Tuesdays and Thursdays for one hour and gives me a work out that is just right for me. It’s challenging but not like I hate you why are you doing this to me challenging. It’s like, damn I can do this, keep it coming. We workout in my family room while Brian naps and Grace is usually awake in the jumper or rolling around and playing in her area. Other than when he comes to my house, I’m supposed to work out two other days in the week which I think I’ve done a total of three times (sorry, Brad!). But the truth is, as a mom I’m literally never sitting down during the day, there is always something to do in the house and my kids are so demanding and draining that I’m on my toes all day so I consider that a workout in itself. The only reason I’m working out is because I get a knock on my door every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 and in walks Brad with his weights and portable bench. I play my music, jam out and get an amazingly efficient work out in that I’m always sad to end, honestly.

No matter which way you go about it, getting help to get yourself in shape will be an investment, it’s a necessity that will hold you accountable whether it be an instagram fitness group, a gym membership, a treadmill, a yoga package, a new pair of sneakers, or a personal trainer.  There is so much you can spend your money on but at the end of the day, after your family is taken care of, there is NOTHING that is more important for YOU than your health and wellness. #FITMOM

Here are some videos of our workouts!

I can’t recommend Bradley Fitness highly enough, he has completely transformed my outlook on exercise and diet (he makes me eat way more than I was eating!) and I look forward to those two hours like you wouldn’t believe. For those two hours I’m centered, I listen to music (currently Selena Gomez) focus on my movements, build my strength, and I just feel healthy and strong, and it sets the tone for the rest of the week. He travels throughout Fairfield County and offers free consultations, hit him up and tell him I sent you!

A few things on the gear, the sneakers #8 are what I wear and I LOVE them!! My boobs are a pain in the ass because they are big and uncooperative, they like to move in the opposite direction that I am, not a pretty sight…I have found these bras ( #10 ) to be THE BEST!
