Grace Louise at 8 Months

Seriously, how have 8 months passed since Gracie came into this world?! Time freaking flies and I honestly can’t believe how BIG my baby girl is getting! Over the past month, Grace has totally let the world know she is here and can’t stop, won’t stop…babbling, yelling, singing, smiling, laughing, eating, moving, grooving. Her vocals have reached a whole new level, i.e. when I’m holding her and having a conversation with someone, she’s literally screaming and making all sorts of noises to make sure my voice is drowned out and hers can only be heard, it’s comical. She has her antennas up and she won’t let anyone or anything pass her by. She’s quick with her eyes, seeing and observing everything around her and is so happy being able to watch the world from the comfort of wherever she is, usually in my lap or sitting on the floor. She’s itching to crawl and has her knees and hands on the floor ready to go, it’s a matter of days before we’re in a whole new phase.

Her big brother is still her favorite, she is googly eyed for him and it’s the sweetest thing. He on the other hand, is too busy to pay much attention to her and although it isn’t the most ideal relationship in the world right now, I’m hoping in time he’ll warm up and be her best friend.

Everyday I count my blessings with our two kiddies, we are in such a sweet phase of life right now with them so young and still so innocent. Brian has my whole heart in the palm of his hand and I can’t get over how much fun I’m having in these toddler years. Don’t get me wrong, some days are trying and the tantrums can make me want to pull every hair out of my head, but at the end of the day I go over all the sweet little moments we had and my heart feels so full I could cry. I always peak in at him sleeping (still in his crib) and revel in the fact that he’s our son. It’s so special how the little things like plastic easter eggs filled with goldfish make him jump for joy and playing a simple game of hide and seek in the yard makes him scream with glee. I don’t want them to grow up, I want to be their mom forever and in the way I am now, like no on else can be me, no one else can read them bedtime stories and tuck them in like me (or dad)… okay, cue tears.

I’m just so happy right now and pinch myself that this life is mine. With all of the bad news this week in Brussels and after a tragic incident in our hometown that sent a 25 year old boy everybody knew and loved to heaven, I just thank God every day for the gift of life and want to spend it joyfully with my loved ones. Writing this post and realizing how fast these past 8 months have gone and thinking about all of moments that are flashing before my eyes puts everything into perspective and all I can think about is living life to the fullest and making the most out of everyday.

Motherhood turns you into a sap, what can I say?

Here are some of Grace’s 8-month essentials we can’t live without

Land of Nod Ocean Mat – She never stops discovering on this thing, LOVE IT

Little Giraffe Blankie – Her fave

Dr. Brown’s Bottles – Her ticket to a gas-free life

Wabbanub – The BEST because she can find this in the middle of the night in her crib = self-soothe

Grass Drying Rack – Although a tad odd looking, this lives in our kitchen

Mustela Bath & Lotion – Hands down best-smelling baby product ever, and so gentle

Foam Floor Tiles – Perfect for exploring and learning to crawl

Skip Hop Floor Mat – Again, another something to have on the floor for moving about and discovering

Bath Ring – This is perfect so she can sit in the big tub with big brother

Go Pod – Perfect to bring around to friends houses, picnics, pools, tailgates, you name it!
