GETTING AWAY WITH BRIAN

This past weekend Brian and I did something wild and crazy and it was SO.MUCH.FUN. If you follow along on snapchat (purejoyhome) or instagram, you already know this, but we booked a little getaway on Friday morning and left that afternoon at 3:30 , just the two of us. Brian’s mom came into town and was already planning on babysitting because we originally were going to LA/Venice Beach on a business trip but once that trip fell through we were just going to hang at home and enjoy her visit. On Friday morning however we woke up and thought, why not?? When do we have babysitting from both sets of grandparents lined up to do something like this so we got online and booked tickets to Jupiter, Florida.

The whole thing was so fun, probably because it was last minute it felt like we were stealing time. We relaxed at the beach, went out to dinner, drank tropical drinks at the beach, rode bikes, people-watched, sat in silence without a “mom” or “dad” being yelled out and best part was laughing our asses off and making our own fun. We raced each other on the beach and fell over in the sand dying of laughter, we both got the worst sunburns because we’re not used to not having a “nap-time” break during the peek sun hours, we met all sorts of crazy people at the bar one night and did shots with them, we uber’ed everywhere, we slept past 10 one morning…you get the drift. It was so nice to connect and spend real time together, such a rejuvenating time in our relationship, one we’ll never forget. 

 

 

We’re very lucky to have grandparents like ours who want to spend time with our kids so we could take this little vacation away, it was such a special time and we’ll cherish the memories forever. On the plane ride home we talked about how we definitely want to make sure we take time to have more FUN, like good fun that makes us feel like kids again. What sorts of things do you do with your significant other that are FUN? Simple things we can do locally, or even in the house! Would love some ideas!!

We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican ad We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican adventure. This is the two week decompression period where we train our bodies and minds to slow down (this is more for me than anyone else), and let me tell you, I’m lapping it up.  We’re spending all day outside at the beach, going to bed early, eating lots of fresh fruit and healthy foods, swimming in the ocean, I’m working out and meditating in the mornings, and having fun together. For someone who is usually always in high gear, this part is my gift to myself 🐚 

We are staying at a beautiful place in papagayo with @exclusiveresorts and it feels very luxurious and restorative. 

The kids are already thriving. Being together 24/7 comes with its arguments and fights but they are learning how to just be with each other and with their crazy little brother. They’re helping a lot with him, learning a little Spanish, surfing, writing in their journals, and meeting kids from all over the world who are staying here as well. 

I’m letting us get pampered for this phase, and it feels really good.

Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app @melissawoodtepperberg @melissawoodhealth and so far I’m loving the workouts. I try and do one every morning. They’re super quick so sometimes I do two. I like that they are gentle but hard. They incorporate a lots of yoga, pilates, breathing, stretching, balancing and all that good stuff. You can see from the videos I’m pretty shaky in the first couple clips, that balance is tough but I’m building up my strength, I can feel it 💪🏻
