Hi Gals!! Our living room is coming together, slowly but surely. I am SOO excited to share some progress photos with you and although we have a lot to do, you can kind of see where we are going here. The mantle and couch composition is winning my heart right now, it’s everything. I could literally sit in this unfinished room with all the praise hands, all day.
SO first up, mantle. I knew I wanted something different, a pop of pattern. I had never heard of cement tiles but I described them to my gal pal and interior designer Gaelle Dudley knew exactly what I was talking about and led me to the Cement Tile Shop. There are so many different amazing patterns to choose from but I chose Atlas I because I felt it would go with everything. We also put a slab of carrara marble on the hearth which goes perfectly. We had to raise it a bit because going flush with floor (option 1) wasn’t possible.
That wood beam 🙌🏻 We drove to Old Saybrook, Connecticut to get it. There is a FANTASTIC lumbar yard up there, Connecticut River Lumbar and they have so many amazing pieces like this. Just old pieces of wood ready to be reclaimed. We looked for about 45 minutes for this piece and it’s perfection. I wanted something gray to go with the tile and this had all the perfect hues and aging marks.
Nest up, couch! Filling the space behind a couch is tricky. It’s a big space to fill but I knew I wanted this print from Max Wanger from the get-go. It was just a little small (30″ x 40″) so I filled the sides with straw hats which I plan on adding to.
The white couch is from Wayfair, here, and the pillows are from Danielle Oakey Shop <<BEST>>. I know I’m crazy for getting a white couch, but this is going to be the “adult” room and I’ll probably cover it from day-to-day to keep the animals (I mean children) from staining it with cheetos, ketchup, chocolate, etc….
That’s what I’ve got for now, I’ll check in next week with some more progress hopefully!!
