A Cup of Joy – September 13, 2019

A cup of joy is back!  I love this Q&A series and hope to do it more consistently here on the blog.  Thinking of trying to make it a weekly thing and will try hard to keep it going!  I love being able to interact with you all this way.  And hopefully it helps you to get to know me and my family a bit more.

Q&A

Well first, I’m NOT always positive! I can be a negative nancy at times, especially when I’m feeling overwhelmed and tired.  Just ask Brian 🤣.  But for the most part, I think I have a pretty good grip on the fact that life is short.  So I better make it sweet. The days pass quickly…the weeks, the months, they are flying by. Our kids are growing up FAST. That in itself, just makes me want to slow down, soak up the moments and get the most out of my time here. Tomorrow is not a guarantee. I am healthy, my kids are healthy, my husband is healthy, we live in a comfortable home, what more could I ask for?

It’s true, in this world there is SO much we can dwell on or be negative about.  But I try and drown that out with the positive noise of my surroundings. If I watch the news, pay too much attention to politics, it takes away from my happiness so I simply can’t right now. Some may call that ignorant.  But for this season of life I am in, with young children, growing a business, I try and just stay focused on that. I do offer my charity in areas that I feel I can contribute to, and I’m sure that will only continue to grow, as we grow 🙂

I locked eyes with Brian the first moment I saw him. He came right over to me and I felt this wave of OMG no one has ever been more my type than this guy!! We spent the entire night talking and dancing, and then he drove me home (kids don’t ever do that!!).  And he came into my parents house and we sat on the floor of their kitchen talking until 4 in the morning. I’d never had a connection to someone like that before.

Then the next night he took me to dinner, came to my parents door, met them, opened the door for me, the whole nine. He was the most fun, kind, generous and such a gentleman. We became inseparable after that first date. I was always scared that he was too good to be true, and then about a month into dating, he told me he loved me. We had gone apple picking that day and we were making an apple pie together.  Here’s the funny part, he said it, AND I DIDN”T HEAR HIM!!! He thought I was ignoring him, and waited another whole MONTH to tell me!!

I started blogging out of misery and desperation, haha. At the time I was working in HR and hated it, but needed a job to pay the bills.  There was a desire to unlock this creative side of me by starting to blog about anything and everything! It became a passion, and I’ve been doing it ever since. This was in 2009. It has taken many twists and turns, long breaks, etc… but has been a piece of me for 10 whole years, almost a third of my life!

Well, you will soon find out!! We have something really exciting that we are working very hard on!

He works for Pure Joy Home!

Yep! Inconsistently but I have gotten it a few times and I’m obsessed with it. This is going to be the topic of my next newsletter, sign up for my newsletter here.

A Bloody Mary, duh.

I’m an enneagram 3 wing 2!! LOVE THE ENNEAGRAM! It’s such a great tool to understand how you respond to certain situations and conduct your actions.

Ya know what? I like the cooling of the blue more than the pink (the pink is less intense) but I love the color of the pink more. So I layer them, blue down first and then the pink for color on top!

Le Labo Santal is my JAM right now. Most perfumes give me really bad headaches because the fragrance just smells so chemical-y. This one does not and it smells like nothing else I’ve ever laid my nose on 👃🏻Also, if you ever have the chance, visit one of their shops because they are SO cool! There is one in NYC and I love going in there.

We are trying to decide. While we understand this is an opportunity of a lifetime, we are a little worried about messing with our kids routines. They are JUST getting into the swing of being back to school and I just don’t know… We have to decide soon — what would you do?? Feel free to comment below.

Kelly is local so she comes to the house when we need to do in person but can also work at home. She’s having a baby in two weeks are we are SO EXCITED about that!! She’ll take as much maternity time as she wants and we’ll be so excited when she comes back, hopefully with baby boy in tow so I can snuggle him all day while we work.

Kate lives on the Jersey Shore so she works from home.

HAVE FUN!! Just enjoy being newly weds and don’t worry too much about having kids ASAP. Brian and I had so much fun. We didn’t have too much money so we didn’t travel a ton.  Instead we just had lots of fun together.  For instance we went to concerts, took day trips to ski in the winter and to the beach in the summer. Then we got pregnant one year after being married.  Now we continue to date each other and love these date night spots in Fairfield County if you are local!

I was in Santa Barbara for the CJ Universe conference. CJ is an affiliate marketing powerhouse, and you may know one of their sub-affiliates, rewardStyle! So rewardStyle uses CJ for many of their affiliate programs, and we as the influencer use rewardStyle. So it goes like CJ > rewardStyle > Me. Affiliate links are trackable links that publishers use to earn commission on customer purchases. So if I send you a link to a sweater that I like from Nordstrom, that most likely is an affiliate link, and I get a small commission from your use of that link. There were TONS of publishers there, think Conde Nast, Refinery 29, and then tiny bloggers like me! It was really neat to get to know so many different people who work in so many different levels of publishing and marketing.

I am releasing them on SUNDAY for newsletter subscribers FIRST with a discount code! Make sure you’re subscribed here to be the first to know!

Okay friends!! That’s all for now 🙂 I’ll be back next week with another round of questions and answers!!
