Back to School #2020

grace dress (3 for $14!), grace backpack | brian shirt (2 for $11!), brian pants, brian backpack

MYYY goodness gracious, can #2020 be any more of a sh*t show?! I really don’t think it can. If there’s one positive, I think it is that we all learned that we are resilient AF, and that the word, “PIVOT”, has now become a lifestyle. Apologize for the cursing references but #2020. Also, have you seen the Friends episode when Ross and Chandler are moving a couch up the stairs?! Here it is if you need a laugh… PIVOT VIDEO.

Wanted to shed a little light on what going back to school is going to look like for Brian and Grace. I’m going to take the emotion out of it for this part, we’ll get into that, maybe.

What is being presented as of now for our town is a hybrid model, 5 days per week divided into smaller groups of “cohorts”. The AM cohort would go in from 9-11:30, and the PM cohort would be 12:30-3. Class groups are small, kids stay in the classroom and masks are required. There is also a Distance Learning option if you choose to keep your kids home with school instruction from the district. And there is always a straight up homeschool option if you choose to unenroll your children in the public school system.

Before I share our plans, it should also be noted that everyone’s opinions, circumstances, and viewpoints are unique, we’re living in a crazy world right now and each individual family needs to do what they need to do! There is no right or wrong way to do this.

Our kids are going to go back to school, to the hybrid model. The mask thing sucks, but here’s where we stand… We are new in town, my kids need to make friends! Their development around their peers and educators is as of right now, a priority for us. Our children thrive around kids their age, they thrive in the classroom, running around the playground, etc… and yes, it looks different with the masks and the smaller groups, but my hope is that the exposure to new friends and teachers will be beneficial for them. We will instruct them on the lessons that are required at home to fill the gaps in either the AM or the PM.

This is what is being proposed to START the school year. As the weeks progress, the state and districts will reevaluate all of the health and safety factors to determine if students should go to complete Distance Learning, remain in Hybrid mode, or go back full time.

SO, let’s talk about the cute clothes I got for them! I went on a little shopping spree at Walmart and found some really cute things! Grace is going through a phase where she is VERY particular about what she wears. Have you ever heard of a child refusing buttons?! Nothing she wears can have a button, I mean… Brian is really easy peasy with his clothes, he generally lets me pick out what he wears, which, coming from Grace, is a real treat.

Walmart’s options are vast, I really like the brand Wonder Nation, and the price is right! These kids grow so fast, and they mess their clothes like you wouldn’t believe, so I’m not looking to break the bank. Finding cute, affordable, and durable clothes is where I’m at, and Walmart has just that. You can easily shop from my picks below, or go to their Back to School hub for more!
