BBG // Q+A

25 Jul 2018 fitness, Home, Wellness

Read until the end to see if you won the free month!

It’s been a full six weeks of consistent BBG (Bikini Body Guide) and I know that doesn’t sound like a lot of time to most of you but for me, a. other than a personal trainer I have never worked out this consistently, and b. I am seeing results so all the praise hands. I’ve also gained 5 pounds which is crazy to me because since my clothes still fit, I’m pretty sure it’s muscle gain?? Health people, correct me if I’m wrong!

I do BBG from home and sometimes at the gym if I feel like I want to change up the scenery to work out. You don’t need a gym but we have a membership from last year so I can still go. They also have a daycare thing so if I need a mental break I can bring B+G there which is really nice. You need barely any equipment, what I have used so far is a bench, (2) 5 lb. weights and a mat. You use your own body weight a lot and I appreciate that! No machines and being able to squeeze in workouts from home is crucial if I’m going to stick to anything. The workout is 28 minutes long and I follow along from an app called SWEAT. It’s $20 per month, can’t beat that price especially because you don’t need a gym membership.

Now, let’s get to your questions!

Q: Do you get days off?

A: Yes, there are 3 days of resistance, 3 days of cardio, and 1 day of recovery. I actually don’t do the cardio because I hate cardio. I try to get it in by just being active with the kids.

Q: How high-impact are the workouts?

A: They are pretty high-impact, think burpees, jump squats, jump lunges, etc… I do think they are a tad hard on my joints but I’m doing it anyway…

Q: Did the BBG beginner phase prepare you for BBG week 1.

A: 100%%%% I couldn’t do 4 burpees without being out of breath and feel like I was dying. I can do them no sweat at this point. I saw significant changes in my body from just the beginner (I’m only on week 2 of 1.0)

Q: Are the workouts easy to do with kids around?

A: Let’s be honest here, is anything you are trying to do for yourself easy to do when the kids are around 😜 I MUCH prefer putting on my headphones and zoning out into my workouts for my mental health, but sometimes the kids are around. Do they drive me nuts while I’m trying to workout? Yes, but I get it done.

Q: Are you doing a meal plan?

A: No, I eat whatever I want BUT I practice common sense and moderation. For example, I’m going on a girls weekend this weekend so this week I’m being a little more cautious about what I fuel my body with, more protein less sugar. BUT they do have an awesome meal plan for you every day, with recipes, even snacks!

Q: How do you find the motivation to do it?

A: This is going to sound silly. When we were on the beach in Antigua, there was a woman there with two kids the same age as Brian + Grace and her body was SICK, like when I saw her my jaw-dropped, perfect. I think about that body everyday and that’s what gets me off my ass. We became friends and I have her to thank! Jordana, if you’re reading this, THANK YOU. Also, you see results quick and seeing new muscles form and feeling the strength in my arms when I pick up Grace, that feels really good and I don’t want it to go away.

Q: What’s your favorite exercise day?

A: Legs! My legs are what I want to be strong the most, they are starting to take a little shape and my butt is becoming more of a bubble and less of a pancake.

Q: When do you squeeze it in

A: Anytime I can! It’s pretty easy to throw on a show on for my kids and have them half-ass watch the show/bother me and get it in. Ideally, I do it when they aren’t with me like I mentioned above so when Brian is at camp or at night when big B gets home. I wish I could work out early in the morning but I like to start my day out slow with a cup of coffee. That’s one of my greatest pleasures in life so not willing to scratch that.

Q: Have you thought of an accountability program?

A: Yep! We’re going to use the hashtag #purejoyBBG to start! You can actually follow a hashtag now so anytime anyone posts a photo or a story with the hashtag, you will see it! Just type in #purejoyBBG and you’ll see the option to follow. As the participant, share your workout videos, sweaty selfie, whatever you want to share to your stories or your instagram feed to motivate others with #purejoyBBG. You can also share your photos in instagram stories but those will disappear in 24 hours. When you wake up, check the hashtag and do your part throughout the day!

OKAY now for the winners! (send an email to [email protected]) and I’ll get you set up!

We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican ad We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican adventure. This is the two week decompression period where we train our bodies and minds to slow down (this is more for me than anyone else), and let me tell you, I’m lapping it up. We’re spending all day outside at the beach, going to bed early, eating lots of fresh fruit and healthy foods, swimming in the ocean, I’m working out and meditating in the mornings, and having fun together. For someone who is usually always in high gear, this part is my gift to myself 🐚

We are staying at a beautiful place in papagayo with @exclusiveresorts and it feels very luxurious and restorative.

The kids are already thriving. Being together 24/7 comes with its arguments and fights but they are learning how to just be with each other and with their crazy little brother. They’re helping a lot with him, learning a little Spanish, surfing, writing in their journals, and meeting kids from all over the world who are staying here as well.

I’m letting us get pampered for this phase, and it feels really good.

Thanks for coming along, I hope your year is off to an amazing start! Is there anything specific you’d like me to share about while we’re in this phase? I was thinking about sharing my morning workouts and meditations, but let me know!
Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app @melissawoodtepperberg @melissawoodhealth and so far I’m loving the workouts. I try and do one every morning. They’re super quick so sometimes I do two. I like that they are gentle but hard. They incorporate a lots of yoga, pilates, breathing, stretching, balancing and all that good stuff. You can see from the videos I’m pretty shaky in the first couple clips, that balance is tough but I’m building up my strength, I can feel it 💪🏻
