Blueberry Galette a la Mode

I made this Blueberry Galette over the weekend, on Father’s Day, as a special little treat for after our al fresco dinner. It was the most beautiful night, the weather was perfect and it was just the five of us which feels like a rarity these days! We had plans to visit with my parents but my mom caught a cold and needed to rest.

Anywho, I was at Whole Foods rushing around and knew I had a bunch of blueberries at home so I ran past the freezer section and found this pre-made french pastry dough and figured I could do something with that and what came out was a beautiful, easy, and delicious dessert that everyone loved!

Here is what you need:

For the filling:

For the dough:

This is the brand I used and it was SO good –

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Mix the blueberries, sugar and lemon in a bowl and mix it around with your hands so that all the blueberries are covered with the sugar. Set aside.

Flour a sheet of parchment paper on a baking sheet. Roll out the dough once it’s thawed, and pour the blueberries into the center and fold the sides over the blueberries.

Once the galette is formed, take a baking brush and wash egg whites over the dough.

Place in the oven for approximately 50 minutes, you’ll want the dough to be a nice golden brown, like a croissant.

Sprinkle some sugar on the blueberries, and after the fact we thought it would be nice to add a little lemon zest on top.

Serve with vanilla ice cream!
