DIY Citrus + Cedar Garland

Happy Monday!! Last week we attempted to make orange garland because we’ve been seeing it everywhere and it looks GORGEOUS. We saw, we came, we conquered. It was actually a very simple process, our only hiccup was that we tried to speed it up by turning up the heat in the oven and the oranges got slightly *charred*, but only by a bit and probably not noticed by anyone else.

You will need:

Preheat oven to 175

Slice your oranges to 1/4-1/2 inch thick slices

Line cookie sheets with oranges and put in the oven for approximately 3 hours. You can flip the oranges about halfway through the baking process to help them brown evenly and dry on both sides.

Once they come out of the oven, let them cool and start stringing them with the wire. You’ll want a sewing needle so you can easily poke through the rind of the orange.

String the wire through until you get the length you want. To make it look more organic I took burlap twine and made little knots on the sides.

Once the citrus comes out of the oven and cools, string like so …

and hang! Command strips work perfect to hang the garland. I mixed the oranges with fresh cedar garland and like how natural it looks!
