Fall Self-care checklist

As we transition to a new season I took some time to think about self-care.  The importance it plays in my life during this busy time.  A Fall self-care checklist if you will 🙂

Many times this list is ambitious, with big goals and lots of planning for our family (i.e. schedules, vacations, etc.).  But this week I really sat down and tried to think of small daily practices that can better me during this busy time. We’ve got back to school, kids in sports and activities, homework, this is the busiest season of work for PJH, etc… My Fall self-care checklist is intended to help me to slow down and take care of myself amidst the crazy!

My style checklist for this season is true to what I’ve always believed.  I want to buy and share things that are classic, timeless and of good quality that won’t break the bank.  Whatever I am wearing, I want to feel confident and beautiful in.  That includes all the way down to how I accessorize.  I like to keep my jewelry simple but have fun with it as well!  This summer I shared a number of my favorite handmade leather wrap bracelets from Victoria Emerson.

Fall Self-care Checklist

When I think about the things I need to do for “self-care” I made a list of obvious but hard to consistently do things.  I want to improve on all of the below things and really stick to it!  Each one will help fuel my soul to be happy, healthy and present.  So because I know how much it will benefit me I am really going to make these things a priority.  Do you have a self-care checklist?  If so let me know what is on it by commenting below!  And if you share this free printable below, remember to tag @purejoyhome so I can see who else is prioritizing self-care in this new season.

We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican ad We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican adventure. This is the two week decompression period where we train our bodies and minds to slow down (this is more for me than anyone else), and let me tell you, I’m lapping it up.  We’re spending all day outside at the beach, going to bed early, eating lots of fresh fruit and healthy foods, swimming in the ocean, I’m working out and meditating in the mornings, and having fun together. For someone who is usually always in high gear, this part is my gift to myself 🐚 

We are staying at a beautiful place in papagayo with @exclusiveresorts and it feels very luxurious and restorative. 

The kids are already thriving. Being together 24/7 comes with its arguments and fights but they are learning how to just be with each other and with their crazy little brother. They’re helping a lot with him, learning a little Spanish, surfing, writing in their journals, and meeting kids from all over the world who are staying here as well. 

I’m letting us get pampered for this phase, and it feels really good.

Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app @melissawoodtepperberg @melissawoodhealth and so far I’m loving the workouts. I try and do one every morning. They’re super quick so sometimes I do two. I like that they are gentle but hard. They incorporate a lots of yoga, pilates, breathing, stretching, balancing and all that good stuff. You can see from the videos I’m pretty shaky in the first couple clips, that balance is tough but I’m building up my strength, I can feel it 💪🏻
