How I Order My Groceries Online – My System

HELLO friends! The other day I spoke about a life hack that saves me SO.MUCH.TIME. and money, ordering our groceries online!! I know this is not new to many, but it is something we started during Covid, then got lazy about because getting the delivery times during Covid was impossible and sort of turned me off to the whole idea, but we’re not back in full force and life is good. I wanted to give you a quick little glimpse into my system in case you’re in need of some guidance.

I like to order my groceries with a delivery date of Sunday. It’s nice to start the week with lots of fresh snacks and lunches for the kids at school, and all the basics for dinner. Full disclosure, our dinners are not at all interesting or fancy right now. The main goal is to get healthy, easy homemade meals into the mouthes of my family with very little complication. If you’re more of a chef, your grocery list is going to look a lot different than mine 🤣

*the best part in my opinion about online grocery shopping is that you have a saved history which makes adding to your cart week after week very easy.

Okay so I order from two spots in town. One is Shoprite which I like for snacks and mostly conventional items. This is where we get our staples. Here is glimpse at this week’s order, a little on the unhealthy side, but real.

So you’ll see this is a very basic order, we have lots of kids running in and out of our house so I like to have easy things for them to grab. We are guilty of sugary cereals. This should get us through the bulk of our week.

I also order a lot from Whole Foods. They carry certain items that Shoprite doesn’t and vice versa. Here’s a glimpse at our WF history (this is not from just one week, just a look at what we order from there.

Some weeks we do just WF, others we do just Shoprite, but I hate to say it, my kids eat more of the Shoprite snacks because they’re well… better 🙃i.e. Mott’s fruit snacks over the Annie’s fruit snacks, Doritos over organic tortilla chips. You know…

I do try and map out the easiest meals possible to get us through the week. I know I’ll need beef and chicken, and usually another meat like pork. This week I have a loose idea of what we’ll be having for dinner:

Monday – meatloaf, roasted potatoes and broccolo

Tuesday – (my mom is coming and brining us dinner)

Wednesday – pasta with meatballs

Thursday – chicken on the grill with rice and salad

Friday – pizza takeout.

You see? Easy meals that our whole family will eat. This isn’t the season of life to get fancy in the kitchen! With that said, when I am in a slump, or very bored, I love to do a meal service like Blue Apron. It changes things up and makes dinner fun! It’s not every week, but we go in and out of phases with it.

SO, that’s our meal ordering in a nutshell. Not sure if that was helpful or not, but in case you’re wondering how I do it, this is it!
