An Almost Completed Kitchen

We are JUST about to hit DONE on our kitchen project and I just couldn’t wait to share the photos with you! And really the only things we are waiting on are a couple accessories, our pantry, and our rug. As soon as all those things are done, you’ll get an updated post but for now, here is what we have!

But first, the before:

🙈

AFTER

I have been LOVING being in our new space. It is so light, bright and happy. All of the different design elements could not have come together any better and that just makes my heart sing.  Because when you’re picking out all these things one by one and you think you have the idea in your head, you don’t actually KNOW what it will look like until it is installed. But I did have a very clear vision in my head so this wasn’t that hard for me, but I could not have done it with out my friends at Rali Design Co. They are long time friends of ours and are SO good with spacial concept and design.

LAYOUT

Space is definitely a weakness of mine. When it came to the layout I really couldn’t figure out what type to go with.  They gave us some amazing options to choose from. And they did our drawings which our GC used to put it all together. Bless her heart, Lindsey came over one Saturday afternoon when we were in the middle of the peninsula vs. island debate and she spent HOURS convincing us we had enough width in the room for an island which is what we really wanted. It took a lot of convincing for Brian because he just didn’t think we could fit it.  BUT we trusted her and went with the island and are SOOOO happy we did! I LOVE IT and would sleep in a sleeping bag on top of it if I could.

CABINETS

I wanted white cabinets, shaker style, inset. Our contractor knew of a guy in our area who has worked in a mill shop his entire life and is going out on his own now. We may have been his first completed kitchen and these cabinets could not be any more beautiful or well-built. I am obsessed. They are painted in Benjamin Moore Chantily Lace. For the hardware I went back and forth between matte black and brass for the hardware.  But ultimately went with the black and got the brass in with the island pendant lights and over sink lights. I love the mix of these two metals! He also made our shelving for us out of cedarwood.

SHIPLAP

A couple other things I really wanted were open shelving, a barn door, and shiplap. I know, basic but the heart wants what it wants. Our neighborhood was actually built on farmland in our town so I justified my decisions there. It just fits perfectly with the architecture and landscape of our home.

WINDOWS

This big window is EVERYTHING. It lets in SO much natural light and is STUNNING. I can be at my kitchen sink and see our entire back yard which has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. 🙌🏻 I love the farm sink, she’s a beauty. And the faucet is awesome, found that on Amazon along with these pendant lights.

APPLIANCES

After visiting the Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove headquarters this fall and learning about the appliances and brand, we knew what we wanted. The kitchen of our dreams deserved the appliances of our dreams and we couldn’t be happier. We went with the 36″ french door panel-ready refrigerator and 36″ dual-fuel range. There isn’t gas on our street so we have an electric oven and gas stove which is fueled from our propane tank. It works perfect, and cooking on flame 🙌🏻 I missed it so much!!! For this we went through Clarke Kitchen and Design and the service was top-notch. They even offer classes to teach you how to use all of the different functions of our oven!  We will definitely be making a date night out of that in the near future!

COUNTERTOPS

The countertops. Oh the countertops!  I wanted to look of a very light carrara marble but so many people, including my brother and sister-in-law, steered me away from it because it are so porous. So I searched high and low for a durable Quartz alternative that looked like real marble, and finally found one! This is the Sfumato color and the veining is so good.  It has depth which is difficult to find in many other Quartz options and I love how white it is. So far, it is SO durable. We’ve had many spills sit overnight and when I wipe them up the next morning, NADA. So clean! I use my Thieves cleaner on them and they shine up with no marks 🙌🏻

We are just over the moon with how it all came together!  I will continue to update you as we make more progress! There are still  awesome plans in the works for our pantry and I can’t wait until my vintage Turkish runner comes in! We are also finalizing the other side of the room and mudroom so will keep you posted on that progress as well! *I’m also not thrilled with my photography, so will def be enlisting a friend to take the next round!
