Living Room Project

16 Aug 2019 Home, Our Home

living room decor

Serial redecorator, GUILTY.  I got inspired to take on this living room project this weekend.  I’ve never gotten this room 100% right. It was feeling very disjointed and unfinished so I decided to place a couple of online orders one night over a glass of wine and the rest is history. Brian and I took it to instagram stories this morning and had a lot of laughs as we reconfigured the room 1000x (he really loves me) and laid down the new carpet.

COUCH

The first piece to come in this week for our living room project is this gorgeous white couch from Macy’s! It’s made of performance fabric and can be washed! Lots of you wrote to me and let me know that you too have this couch and love it! I’m so happy to hear your great reviews. I was able to get it down to close to $1000 which I think is a great price for such a nice looking couch. The white glove delivery was a really nice touch and cost nothing extra. Very impressed with Macy’s!

RUG

We also ordered this natural fiber rug from Rugs USA. The price was right and although the online photos showed no fringe detail (there is most definitely a fringe on the ends) I’m loving it! It’s soft on your feet unlike most natural fiber rugs, and the size is perfect for the room. We got the 10′ x 14′ and it was under $400 (also free shipping!)

DECOR

This morning I ordered some new accessories for this living room makeover which I’ve included below! I’m so excited to see how it all turns out!!

A couple things not included in the collage post. We have these rods from Target and really love the way they look in the space! I also have the Ritva curtains from IKEA which I’m going to have shortened so they don’t pile up so much on the floor (I don’t really like the way that looks). We also have this bar cart and it fits perfectly in between the two front windows. Since we have a bar set up in our dining room, I use this as a little display table for books and flowers.

Life & Style blogger, Liz Joy, shares her summer living room project. A summer refresh, complete with design board and links to sources of decor.

no. 1 pretty urn for accessorizing | no. 2 pretty votive candle holder for coffee table | no. 3 gorgeous new pillows from Danielle Oakey Shop | no. 4 the best chairs from Target EVER and on sale today |

no. 5 pink blanket for couch | no. 6 ooh la la print | no. 7 our NEW coffee table | no. 8 new pillow | no. 9 muted pink tassel pillow | no. 10 natural fiber rug | no. 11 white couch from Macy’s

Do you love to decorate?? It’s one of my absolute favorite things to do and am always thinking of new ways to spruce up our spaces!  Earlier this week I shared our laundry room/mud room makeover that we did earlier this year.  Fun fact, I worked for an interior designer at one point in my career and absolutely 1000% HATED it! I realized while I love decorating in my own space, I can not be responsible for others’. Definitely one of those passions that could NOT be a job for me.

K, be back soon with an update!!

I remember our first kitchen, we rented an apartme I remember our first kitchen, we rented an apartment on a second floor and MAN that thing was ugly. Not a redeeming quality about it 🙈 The old stained cabinet doors were so musty, the fake wood formica and yellow tile backsplash, I wish I had a picture of that thing!!

The thing I’ve realized many kitchens later > little things can have a HUGE impact. Maybe it’s the marble tray next to the sink that holds your pretty soap container and wooden scrubber, or the white vintage bread container — these little additions can represent your true style even when you can’t completely make over the space. It’s an affordable way to spruce up your environment which can have a positive effect on your mood!

Hi! You may have heard me talk about a scary onlin Hi! You may have heard me talk about a scary online experience that happened to little Brian last year. During quarantine he started interacting with some of his friends and classmates on an app that had a chat feature. At first we liked it because the kids were using creativity and staying touch while everyone was home. We made sure all of the parental controls were on and settings private. One day Brian started getting emotional and said he wanted to take some time off the tablet iPad. We started talking about the issue more and he mentioned that a stranger sent him a message. It said “hello” and that person started to bother him in the game. I started to do some research and found there are ways for predators get in through third party apps. We want to share this experience because we have teamed up with Google to encourage you to have tech talk with your kids so we can all be safer online and build healthy tech habits.

In honor of Safer Internet Day earlier this month, we have been using the Google Be Internet Awesome program as a resource and found that the brave pillar of the program has really helped Brian start to navigate the online world with confidence. If you haven’t had the tech talk with your children yet, it’s never too early to start to teach them good internet habits. I’m sharing more in stories today with some swipe ups to the program. But I’d love to hear how you’ve been approaching the tech talk with your family.
