If you’ve been following along on instagram stories or have read my past few blog spots about our living room here (gallery wall inspo) and here (decor inspo), you know I am looking to give our more formal living room a mini-makeover. We NEVER use our formal living room, but I find myself constantly using it when friends come over and if I need some quiet time (rare but quality when I get it). I wanted to find some new accessories to fill up the space and I am SO happy with what I have found at Walmart, especially our STUNNING new coffee table. I love when people ask me where I found it and I tell them Walmart! Usually their jaws drop and I get something like…”you found this at WALMART??? But it’s so beautiful???”. Yes my friends, it’s from Walmart. If you stop and look around, you might just find something awesome for you there, too!

So once I saw the vintage chic  decor finds at Walmart I was excited.  This line includes furniture and furnishings that fit that cozy farmhouse style that I love.  This room needed a bit more of a warm and welcoming feel and adding these few items did the trick!

MY DESIGN APPROACH

When styling a room from the bottom up I tend to take my time selecting items.  First, I will shop around the house for items I already have.  Then identify what is missing and start to search online or go in store to get inspired.  I tend to be drawn to a farmhouse/coastal look with textures and colors.  I really love rooms that are warm, welcoming and give off a good vibe when you walk in no matter what the style is.  For this room, I wanted to incorporate more of that vintage chic decor you see in farmhouses and cozy cottages.  The style is known for featuring weathered wood elements and distressed accents like this ceramic jug while mixing it with more elegant/clean textiles like this pillow and throw.

Walmart now has a really easy way to shop for home decor that matches your own personal style.  You can head on over to their shop by style page to check out items that fit the look your going for.  So, whether that’s coastal, bo-ho, mid-century or modern there’s something for everyone. You can’t beat their everyday low prices and they offer free 2-day shipping on most orders $35 or more.  For example, I was able to do a lot of back-to-school shopping for the kids as well as start to look to complete our living room makeover.  Above all it’s such a great one-stop-shop for whatever you need.

Up next in the living room series!! Hanging our gallery wall! Stay tuned!
