My Why for Pure Joy Home

The sweetest things were shared with me yesterday via Instagram.  The testimonies of why you continue to follow me, included my content on everyday life and my joy. The message you communicated to me will change my trajectory forever, let me explain…

For the past few weeks, I have been doing a lot of reflecting on my why. Every couple of months, I step outside of my routine and settle in a quiet place and just think. I love writing my thoughts in a journal. It’s super helpful for me and also helps guide me in my day-to-day sharing. It is very interesting, and perhaps a bit of unusual to essentially share daily on a public forum. The treadmill goes and goes and goes, and it’s imperative for me to jump off every once in a while to give my brain a break and to assess my purpose of running

I’ll start with the fact that I am a natural born “sharer” (is that a word?). I LOVE to share. Always have. If I read a good book, I need to talk about it to everyone I know. If I’m into a new class at the gym, I need to text my friends and ask them to do it with me. In general, if I discover something good that I think will benefit you in some way shape or form, I’m going to tell you about it. Pure Joy Home is a natural extension of who I am as a person, and count my lucky stars that I was able to turn this passion for sharing, into a job that I love. Seriously, the stars aligned for me because how in the heck is this even a job?!

So, how do I decide what to share? I mean there must be some stopping point or I could share all day long and burn out. This is where the overly critical theme of intention comes in. I hope that however you find me, you leave me feeling inspired to live a more joyful life. When you add JOY, you are internally HAPPIER, and when you’re HAPPIER, you GIVE KINDNESS. There is a ripple effect too, so if I can inspire one person, she may inspire 10 more, and her kindness might touch someone who desperately needs it.

I hope that by taking you on my walks and showing you the plants and flowers that I find so beautiful inspires you to find something to marvel at in your own surroundings; I hope that by sharing when I complete a workout, it inspires you to move your body to get those endorphins pumping and boost your confidence that you CAN do the hard things; I hope that when I share my mom’s visits it inspires you to give your mom a call, or schedule a visit with her, or for those who have lost their mothers, that it floods your heart with happy memories; I hope that when I share a date night with Brian, it inspires you to set up some alone time with your partner. All of these things I share are meant to inspire joy in your own everyday lives. I have found that the simplest things of everyday life are truly what give me the greatest joy.

On the flip side, I hope that when I show William sitting on the dishwasher door because I was looking the other way, or when I’m hiding in my room sipping on a glass of wine after having McDonalds delivered via UberEats for my kids, you feel a sense of togetherness, solidarity if you will.

I also hope to add some sort of other value when you come visit my page. My intention when I share an outfit I love, is to share my personal style with you,  maybe you love and want to try it for yourself, or maybe it inspires you to seek out your own style, the same for a new skincare or makeup product. These are all made to make you feel good in your skin, and that’s not to say that I believe we need all the things to feel good in our skin, but there is a joyful feeling that I know is possible when we fall in love with a new dress, or a new blush that brings out faces to life (tired mom here).

The same goes for my brand partners. We turn down about 80% of the projects that are presented to us. This is because there is no way that I can authentically represent that many brands, it would be impossible to even test out and use this many different products in my life! And before I share things with you, I need to know that it will have a significant benefit in your life. To give you an example, my most recent partnerships include Boll + Branch, these luxurious sheets are splurge worthy and feel like no other sheet I’ve ever slept on; Blue Apron, our absolute favorite meal delivery service, I know it will save you time and take the hassle out of meal planning when you need a break; JCrew (this almost goes without words because you know my love for JCrew), etc… I make a living out of sharing these things, but, if after enough times of recommending things that don’t benefit you, I’ve lost your trust. Intentional.

With our wellness business, Young Living, I need you to know how incorporating essential oils and the myriad of other wellness products that make healthy living, easy. Easing stresses and anxieties for all of us, especially my kids this year (!!), helping with our sleep, swapping out candles, using Thieves to clean everything so I’m not at the store buying what looks safe for our little ones, the hormone support from using Progessence Plus and all other oils, supplements, and self-care products that give me peace of mind and support our bodies…these are things I’d like to shout from the rooftops.

So, this is why I share. This is what gets me up to write, talk into my phone like I’m sharing with a friend, and when I lay down to sleep at night, I hope I can look back at my day and know something I shared had an impact on someone.

Thank you for being here with me. I have more gratitude than you could ever imagine. It is because of you that I am fortunate enough to live this life, and that will never be lost on me.
