Our 2020 Kitchen Shelves

31 Jan 2020 Home, Our Home

I can’t believe January is almost over!! This month was odd, the days and the weeks seemed to really fly by, but at the same time, when I think about Christmas, that seems like a really long time ago! Anyone else feel like that?? January was all about a fresh start in our home. My focus this year is on simplicity and so a part of that was cleaning out our house. I swear we’re not hoarders but the amount we donated was UNREAL. Brian was filling up his truck multiple times every weekend and bringing huge loads to Goodwill. If we hadn’t used it all year, it was gone. The running joke with my family was to call and make sure I didn’t send Brian Sr. to the dump 😂#nothingissafehere

Anyway, with all this, the kitchen has been cleared out of all the unused. and I may have done a teeny bit of donating and replacing for the shelves. I have so much fun decorating these shelves and it’s really where I can bring in color and texture against the neutrality of the space. We had them custom built and they are fully functional to hold a significant amount of weight. The cabinet designer made and installed them for us.

In keeping with my simplistic, neutral calm vibes for 2020, here are some of the pieces I picked out for our shelves:

kitchen shelves

no. 1 Decorative Canisters | no. 2 Glass Pitcher | no. 3 Copper Measuring Cup Set | no. 4 Cake Stand With Glass Cover | no. 5 Seagrass Belly Basket | no. 6 Ceramic Tool Holder | no. 7 Bamboo Utenstils Set | no. 8 Fleur de Lys Juice Drinking Glasses  | no. 9 Global Amici Juice De Fruit Drinking Glass | no. 10 White Serving and Cereal Bowls

kitchen shelves

no. 1 Decorative Canisters – I thought these were so cute to sit together on our shelves! I actually don’t even have them filled right now so they are purely decoration, but even perfect for an empty space on your counters! ($27 for all 3!)

no. 2 Glass Pitcher – I really like the vintage vibe of this pitcher, and would be great for serving orange juice out of at brunch!

no. 3 Copper Measuring Cup Set – I went for these strictly for color, love the pop they add to the shelves!

no. 4 Cake Stand With Glass Cover – this milky jade color is so beautiful, I LOVE keeping freshly baked treats like banana bread inside!

no. 5 Seagrass Belly Basket – I thought this was nice and light for a spot on the shelves. Would be perfect for table linens!

no. 6 Ceramic Canister – Love a good canister with wooden spoons! Super functional little thing and under $15.

no. 7 Bamboo Utenstils Set

no. 8 Fleur de Lys Juice Drinking Glasses – these pink glasses are EVERYTHING! They look so “Anthro” at a fraction of the price, $26 for 6

no. 9 Global Amici Juice De Fruit Drinking Glass – also LOVE these glasses. They come in a set of 6 and have an awesome vintage look.

no. 10 White Serving and Cereal Bowls – I needed some white/cream accents and these bowls were perfect!

We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican ad We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican adventure. This is the two week decompression period where we train our bodies and minds to slow down (this is more for me than anyone else), and let me tell you, I’m lapping it up. We’re spending all day outside at the beach, going to bed early, eating lots of fresh fruit and healthy foods, swimming in the ocean, I’m working out and meditating in the mornings, and having fun together. For someone who is usually always in high gear, this part is my gift to myself 🐚

We are staying at a beautiful place in papagayo with @exclusiveresorts and it feels very luxurious and restorative.

The kids are already thriving. Being together 24/7 comes with its arguments and fights but they are learning how to just be with each other and with their crazy little brother. They’re helping a lot with him, learning a little Spanish, surfing, writing in their journals, and meeting kids from all over the world who are staying here as well.

I’m letting us get pampered for this phase, and it feels really good.

Thanks for coming along, I hope your year is off to an amazing start! Is there anything specific you’d like me to share about while we’re in this phase? I was thinking about sharing my morning workouts and meditations, but let me know!
Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app @melissawoodtepperberg @melissawoodhealth and so far I’m loving the workouts. I try and do one every morning. They’re super quick so sometimes I do two. I like that they are gentle but hard. They incorporate a lots of yoga, pilates, breathing, stretching, balancing and all that good stuff. You can see from the videos I’m pretty shaky in the first couple clips, that balance is tough but I’m building up my strength, I can feel it 💪🏻
