Hello Friends!! Popping in today to talk about one of our favorite toys, LEGO!! As I mentioned a little while ago on my Instagram stories, Brian and I are really trying to limit screen time these days because it was literally, ruining our son. He was becoming obsessed with the iPad which was leading to tantrums when we took it away, fights with his sister, reclusive behavior and more. I swear we took it away and within 24 hours, we had our son back! In case you’re wondering, he was playing it for about 30 minutes to 1 hour per day, some days more. And what about Grace? She couldn’t care less about the iPad so it’s definitely a personality thing in our family.
What I have learned in this short time, is that he is a better kid without the screens. He’s happier, super creative, and loves reading, putting things together, making things, putting on talent shows, all the good stuff we want our kids to be doing. He no longer searches for the iPad, and instead he PLAYS. Kid is ON.THE.GO and it is such a pleasure to see!
Over the past year our kids have come to really love playing with LEGO sets. They love building and creating their own masterpieces and it is so cool to watch their brains in motion from start to finish. From reading the instructions, using their fine motor skills to build and find their way to the very end.
And to be honest, I also really enjoy that LEGO will keep them occupied for hours! It’s also a great activity we can all do together.
We just got a couple of really amazing LEGO sets from Target to put under our tree, but just couldn’t resist opening them early. Brian and Grace were so excited!
The below tells you a little more about the LEGO sets we got and the cool features they come with. They make the perfect holiday gift for kids and there is such a wide variety to choose from so you can find the perfect set for your little one.
You can shop all these LEGO sets and more this holiday season at Target.
LEGO Creator 3in1 Deep Sea Creatures
Great for kids who love learning about the ocean and getting creative with the 3 in 1 creator option. The kids wanted to build the squid, but this LEGO set can be rebuilt as an angler fish or toy shark with moving fins. So fun! You can even tell grandparents to get additional sets to help build a little ocean of their own.
LEGO Creator Townhouse Pet Shop & Cafe’
This is a really cool Townhouse Pet Shop and Café. Kids can build (and rebuild again) and then continue to play with the mini figures it comes with.
LEGO Hidden Side Paranormal Intercept Bus
This one pairs with an app! You can scan your build once you are done and actually bring it to life. Will facilitate hours of play with just one LEGO set.
What do your kids love to do at home? It’s winter now so we need ALL the ideas!
