Personal Life Update

14 Dec 2017 Family, Motherhood, Outfit Posts, Style

Hi Gang, it’s been a while since I’ve done a life update. Things around here have been so busy with holiday posts but I felt like it was time to personally check in.

I feel like a lot has happened in the past couple months. We lost a family member the day before Thanksgiving which kind of shook everyone to the core. It was pretty sudden and the wound is still very raw for her immediate family so I’m going to leave it at that. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about her and the heartbreak I feel for her husband and children.

It did put a lot of “shit” into perspective if you will, about life. I live differently now, appreciating every single breath I take and every morning I get to wake up. Every moment we get on this earth is a gift, and realizing this in such a shocking and fatal way has me living a little slower and more grateful these days. Little things don’t bother me as much as they used to, my family is everything to me and I’ve wanted to spend every minute with them and enjoy them as much as I can. To be honest, I haven’t wanted to do much other than be with them lately, I think I’m just still feeling like I want to hug my kids close and never let them go. I think back to what happened on that day before Thanksgiving and as horrible and depressing as that is, I put myself in her place and think about how I want to spend my days as if that could happen to me at any time. I’m sorry girls, this is so sad and probably not what you want to be reading right now, but over everything else on this blog, I value my connection with you and part of that is showing you the bad with the good.

Little Brian has been sick on and off for 14 days. He started out with a bad cough, seemed to get over that pretty quickly but his fevers have lasted. They are on and off with most of his days being okay, mostly totally fine, but then some nights he spikes a fever up to 104.7. It’s been really scary. I’ve taken him to the doctor so many times only to be told it’s a bad virus. Well, yesterday I wasn’t going home with the virus verdict, so our pediatrician and I agreed that an X-ray of the chest and blood work was needed at this point. We went to the lab in the morning and the whole day was hard. Brian was acting totally fine, no fever, but waiting for the results to come in was hell. The doctor finally called at 6:30 p.m. and let us know the X-rays were clear but his white blood cell count was higher than normal which indicates infection, so we started him on antibiotics immediately. I am praying that they work, and we can say goodbye to this infection and have our healthy little guy back. Also, you would never know if you looked at him. This morning he polished off a whole bowl of cereal and a fruit smoothie, and was riding his scooter around the house and playing with Grace. He had no fever last night so praying the antibiotic may have started working. Still, scary to know there is an infection but not knowing the source.

Working for me is a great thing. Writing this blog, talking to you on instagram stories, working with partners and my new team (Kelly & Kate) is my outlet. I connect with so many of you on a daily basis and it makes me whole. As much as my family is my #1 priority, having this as an outlet is so important. I’ve got a lot of creative energy and it’s amazing to be able to expend that here with all of you! I’ve made some of my best friends believe it or not through blogging, girls that I was texting with late last night about little Brian, so anyone who tells you that making friends on the internet isn’t real can go somewhere not pretty 🙂

I’ve also delved into the world of essential oils which I’m LOVING. I ordered a starter kit a couple of months back and have been loving exploring the various ways to incorporate them into our daily lives. Our diffuser is going constantly and I just made an immune support roller for little B with the essential oils of Thieves, Oregano, and Frankincense. I’ve been using peppermint for headaches, lavender to help me sleep, JOY during the day for motivation, the list goes on. I’ll share more about these in the new year but it’s a whole new exciting chapter for me. I have a tab on the top here “Essential Oils” where you can learn more.

Brian’s job is going really well, too! He recently took on more responsibility and seeing him shine as a leader in his industry is really cool. He’s worked is a** off to get here and I’m SO proud of him.

We’re hosting family for Christmas Eve this year, all 40+ of us and I can’t wait!! We rented an RV that we’re driving down to Florida on the 26th and I also can’t WAIT for that. I can’t wait to be with Brian + Grace with Big Brian at the wheel (hysterical) for 8 days.

Okay, that’s it for now. That was a lot, if you made it this far, you’re my girl and I’m so glad you’re here. Say hi below in the comments!

We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican ad We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican adventure. This is the two week decompression period where we train our bodies and minds to slow down (this is more for me than anyone else), and let me tell you, I’m lapping it up. We’re spending all day outside at the beach, going to bed early, eating lots of fresh fruit and healthy foods, swimming in the ocean, I’m working out and meditating in the mornings, and having fun together. For someone who is usually always in high gear, this part is my gift to myself 🐚

We are staying at a beautiful place in papagayo with @exclusiveresorts and it feels very luxurious and restorative.

The kids are already thriving. Being together 24/7 comes with its arguments and fights but they are learning how to just be with each other and with their crazy little brother. They’re helping a lot with him, learning a little Spanish, surfing, writing in their journals, and meeting kids from all over the world who are staying here as well.

I’m letting us get pampered for this phase, and it feels really good.

Thanks for coming along, I hope your year is off to an amazing start! Is there anything specific you’d like me to share about while we’re in this phase? I was thinking about sharing my morning workouts and meditations, but let me know!
Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app @melissawoodtepperberg @melissawoodhealth and so far I’m loving the workouts. I try and do one every morning. They’re super quick so sometimes I do two. I like that they are gentle but hard. They incorporate a lots of yoga, pilates, breathing, stretching, balancing and all that good stuff. You can see from the videos I’m pretty shaky in the first couple clips, that balance is tough but I’m building up my strength, I can feel it 💪🏻
