Primary Bedroom

6 Nov 2020 Home, Our Home

Our Primary Bedroom is almost complete, and I absolutely LOVE it! The vaulted ceilings are my favorite, and the way that beautiful light hangs down in the center is EVERYTHING.

The bed. Man you guys, this bed was the biggest hurdle to get through. I REALLY, REALLY wanted a black canopy bed and searched high and low for one that worked just right. I wanted the posts to be slim and there were only two contenders on the market, the one we ended up with from Restoration Hardware and the Sutherland from McGee and Co. Ultimately, we went with the RH because of the price, the customer service, and availability. I can not WAIT to get it, but it will be a couple months after we move in. So many things are backordered because of Covid.

I am SO happy with the nightstands and dresser from Pottery Barn. Those were in stock, have excellent reviews, and I’ve always been really happy with Pottery Barn furniture.

I also searched high and low for the perfect table lamps, do you know how hard it is to find reasonably priced large table lamps?! I spent far too long searching for these but I am so happy with them and I scooped them up on sale with free shipping 🙌🏻

The rug we chose (code PureJoy for 60% off) is from Boutique Rugs and is a great dupe of the Mirabelle from Serena and Lily at more than half of the price. It comes in a lot of sizes and I have a couple friends who have it and rave about it!

Also very hard to find, an oversized mirror that isn’t a million dollars. I chose this one from Wayfair because the size is perfect for the room and I love the arch. I was back and forth between this one from William Sonoma Home but I wanted to add the black in with the frame.

The room needed some greenery and I’ve had my eyes on olive trees. Since I can’t keep anything in the green department alive I went with this faux olive tree from Etsy. It has amazing reviews and the price is great!

We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican ad We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican adventure. This is the two week decompression period where we train our bodies and minds to slow down (this is more for me than anyone else), and let me tell you, I’m lapping it up. We’re spending all day outside at the beach, going to bed early, eating lots of fresh fruit and healthy foods, swimming in the ocean, I’m working out and meditating in the mornings, and having fun together. For someone who is usually always in high gear, this part is my gift to myself 🐚

We are staying at a beautiful place in papagayo with @exclusiveresorts and it feels very luxurious and restorative.

The kids are already thriving. Being together 24/7 comes with its arguments and fights but they are learning how to just be with each other and with their crazy little brother. They’re helping a lot with him, learning a little Spanish, surfing, writing in their journals, and meeting kids from all over the world who are staying here as well.

I’m letting us get pampered for this phase, and it feels really good.

Thanks for coming along, I hope your year is off to an amazing start! Is there anything specific you’d like me to share about while we’re in this phase? I was thinking about sharing my morning workouts and meditations, but let me know!
Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app @melissawoodtepperberg @melissawoodhealth and so far I’m loving the workouts. I try and do one every morning. They’re super quick so sometimes I do two. I like that they are gentle but hard. They incorporate a lots of yoga, pilates, breathing, stretching, balancing and all that good stuff. You can see from the videos I’m pretty shaky in the first couple clips, that balance is tough but I’m building up my strength, I can feel it 💪🏻
