Recap of the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club

4 Apr 2017 Travel

Life & Style blogger, Liz Joy, shares a travel recap of their stay at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. A full look at the accommodations, activities & food.

Brian and I were dying to get away for a couple nights alone and the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club was the PERFECT getaway for us. We had a babysitter for the weekend (Friday afternoon – Sunday) so we were set.  And because our weather in CT had been so bad, we wanted to fly somewhere warm but we didn’t want to spend too much time in the air so Jacksonville was the perfect choice.

FLIGHT

The flight from NYC  was so quick, only about two hours and 10 minutes.  And we enjoyed every minute of flying alone without the kids! We ordered a drink, read our books, I watched the Housewives, it was amazing. We also laughed a ton because the people next to us were traveling home after being ON (not in the audience but ON) the Maury Povich show.  The man had taken a paternity test and the results were NOT in his favor.

OUR STAY

Once we landed, we jumped in an Uber and were at the resort in 40 minutes. Our flight left at 2:55 PM flight and arrived at the Ponte Vedra at 6:00 PM. From the moment we got out of our car we knew we were somewhere special. The staff was so nice, greeting us with waters and chauffeuring us in a golf cart to our ocean view room. There were families and couples everywhere enjoying the warm evening playing tennis and golf, lounging at the pool, in the hot tub, at the bar, etc… and we were just SO excited to be there!

WHAT WE DID

It was so beautiful there so we even stayed on the property all weekend long!  We enjoyed all of the amenities and incredible dining options the PVIC had to offer. At the beach we rented lounge chairs and an umbrella , drank pina coladas and landsharks.  Mid-way through the day we switched gears and rode beach cruisers around the property.   Then headed back to the beach to read our books, took a dip in the hot tub, had lunch then sat at the poolside bar.  After that we headed back to our room to get ready for dinner at the Sea View Grille.

We basically did everything we possibly could to relax and have fun during our 48 hours at the resort.  It was absolutely heavenly. Such a nice place for a romantic getaway but also super family-friendly for a family vacation! We will definitely be back with our kids so they can enjoy this magical place on the Florida shoreline.

‘tis the summer of “no” for me, which may so ‘tis the summer of “no” for me, which may sound odd, but let me explain…

This is the summer of protecting my energy, keeping the good vibes close, and only saying yes to doing the things that truly bring us joy. I have found in the past that my patterns are typically to say yes to whatever may sound like a fun opportunity at the time, even if it’s months in advance. I’m sure you can guess what usually ends up happening, but when that day comes, I dread having made the plans! Most of the time, I would rather be home with my family, enjoying the beach, having quiet nights, etc… Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good time, but I have found the older I get, the simpler I like my life to be. I crave the freedom of not being on anyone else’s schedule, I don’t like being expected to be anywhere, I want my kids to just be free to play with their friends, and simply just enjoy the everyday moments.

My perfect summer looks like this… swimming in our pool, being at the beach with our friends and family, gardening, keeping up with my veggie garden, making yummy dinners, barbecuing, happy hour at the beach, taking walks, drinking coffee on the porch, reading books, watching movies as a family on the couch, playing tennis with my girlfriends … this is all heaven to me. We’re working pretty hard during the days with Marea, so when I’m not working, this is what I love to be doing.

How about you? Do you crave the simplicity? Or do you like having plans? Mix of both?
