San Juan – Travel Guide

Recounting our recent trip to Old San Juan, filled with delicious food, stunning architecture, and unforgettable moments.

Day 1:

Our trip to Old San Juan was with the content crew (Steph and Abby) to shoot for our upcoming Marea launches! We stayed at the conveniently located Hotel Palacio Provincial, nestled in the heart of Old San Juan. We got there just in time for sunset so we quickly changed and got to shooting. We got dinner and drinks at Marmalade (which is a must!) before heading back to our hotel to prep for our big shoot the next day!

Day 2:

Up and at ’em! We did a little bit of photoshoot location scouting our first night so we had an idea of where we wanted to start. Wandering through the enchanting streets of Old San Juan, each corner revealed a new mix of colors and textures, providing the perfect backdrop for our shoot.

After a couple hours of shooting we stumbled upon a piragua stand (shaved ice), I had pineapple and coconut syrup added to mine! For lunch we went to Deaverdura, which serves authentic Puerto Rican food. The food was delicious and the margarita was hands-down the best I’ve ever had. We ordered the steak platter which had samples of a little bit of everything (we wanted to try as much as we could so we were so happy we ordered this).

After lunch, we continued shooting until the sun went down. For dinner we went to Hotel El Convento, which was also a highly recommended place for us to stay. It was about a five minute walk from our hotel. We grabbed a quick drink, recapped the shoot and went back to the hotel.

Day 3:

On Thursday morning Steph and Abby went to a little coffee stand across the street before they left to fly back to CT. Last minute, I decided to extend my stay and have Brian join me for an impromptu getaway. It took no convincing to get him to fly down and meet me! Him and I stayed at the St.Regis (a splurge but WORTH IT), nestled in a different part of San Juan. This extra day extension was ideal for some much-needed rest and relaxation.

I fell in love with Puerto Rico! It was such an easy flight (direct – less than 3.5 hours) and was absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to go back and I can NOT wait for you all to see these upcoming Marea pieces!! Scroll down for a little sneak peak….
