Sausage, Broccoli + Pea Pasta

Life & Style blogger, Liz Joy, shares a sausage, broccoli and pea pasta recipe. Complete with a video on how to make this delicious dish.

Ohhh friends, this sausage broccoli and pea pasta recipe is just too good. I could literally eat three massive bowls of it. It has SO much flavor and is just so satisfying.

It’ll come together in about 30-45 minutes so perfect for weekdays or weekends!

Here is what you need:

Okay so here is what you’re going to do:

Cut up your sausage into slices and cook them on a pan or griddle until they are cooked through. Set aside.

Boil a pot of salted water, and cook your broccolini, Broccoli Rabe, and peas in that water for about 5 minutes. I’m very careful here because I like my vegetables when they are JUST cooked through. I don’t like overly cooked, mushy veggies. I think about 4-5 minutes (maybe even a little less) will do it. Feel free to take them out and give them a try to see if you like their texture while cooking.

Boil another pot of salted water for your pasta and get cooking that as soon as the water is ready. For the amount of pasta, it’s all about the ratio you want to have with the other items in the dish. I like about 50/50 so we did 1/2 pound of penne pasta (Barilla all the way, this 8-pack for $11 is a DEAL).

*One downside of this sausage broccoli and pea pasta recipe is that you’ll have multiple pans going on your stove

Once your veggies and sausage are cooked through, place them in a sauté pan (this is the one we have and we use it ALL the time! >> All-Clad 5-qt Sauté Pan)

Cook these together on low heat with 1/4 cup of olive oil and 1/2 cup of chicken broth until your pasta is ready.

Drain your pasta and pour it into the sauté pan with your sausage and veggies. Mix it all up and if it’s seeming a little dry, you can play with adding a little more chicken broth and olive oil.

Lastly, top with the freshly grated pecorino-romano cheese and red pepper chili flakes!
