My Summer Beauty Routine

11 Jul 2017 Beauty, Shopping & Gifts

(this is everyday mom routine)

Hey girlies! I’ve been wanting to get a summer beauty routine post out and I feel like it’s been in the works for a while now but I’ve tried some newer products lately and wanted to make sure I was 100% before sharing with you. I really like the natural look and I use as minimal products as I can because who wants to look like they have a lot of makeup on, I don’t. I’m going to go through two routines, my everyday mom routine for being around the house, running errands, going to the pool, etc… and then a make-up routine including all the items I use when I’m going out for a dressier occasion, date night, etc…

THE EVERYDAY MOM ROUTINE

I wash my face with a cleansing milk with white lily by Sisley-Paris called Lyslait, morning and night. It’s very calming on my skin and leaves it feeling fresh without any redness, dryness or irritation which I tend to get easily. Funny enough, I forgot this on our last vacation and used Aveeno baby soothing relief wash that we had in the house, and that worked great, too, at a much lower price point! Next I put on this Coola primer with SPF 30. I just started using it under my BB cream and feel like it goes on more evenly and stays on all day. I use this Coola BB cream in all the different colors depending on how much sun I have. I’m obsessed with all of them, my favorite BB cream ever. I love the glow it leaves on my face and it makes it feel so soft, even Brian noticed a difference! I like a lighter coverage that doesn’t look “cakey” and this definitely does the trick. I finish off my covering my lips with SPF as well, and once again, I use this Coola one.

If I’m feeling like I need a little extra on these days I line my eyes with my go-to quick-liner by Clinique in color, Slate and I use a waterproof mascara by Dior, here. Oh and how could I forget, the dark circles. I use this color-corrector by Bobbi Brown first in Peach-light/medium, and then this concealer on top. And that’s it for my normal day-to-day.

THE MAKEUP ROUTINE

The makeup routine starts off with everything I do in the everyday mom routine except for the eyes and lips. Once I have my Coola BB cream on, I use the Smashbox Contour Kit which is super easy to use and comes with instructions in case you need some assistance. Then I apply this glowing powder in color devotion which is A-MAZING. On my lips I use this pencil in color Dervish and fill them in with this pencil in color frivolous.

For my eyes, I use the Clinique quick-liner and I use this palatte for eye-shadow. I finish off with THIS MASCARA which is life-changing. It makes your lashes look SO LONG.

Lastly I finish with this Bobbi Brown finishing powder! And that’s pretty much it! One of these days I’m going to do a video tutorial, hopefully sooner than later!

We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican ad We’re currently in Phase 1 of our Costa Rican adventure. This is the two week decompression period where we train our bodies and minds to slow down (this is more for me than anyone else), and let me tell you, I’m lapping it up. We’re spending all day outside at the beach, going to bed early, eating lots of fresh fruit and healthy foods, swimming in the ocean, I’m working out and meditating in the mornings, and having fun together. For someone who is usually always in high gear, this part is my gift to myself 🐚

We are staying at a beautiful place in papagayo with @exclusiveresorts and it feels very luxurious and restorative.

The kids are already thriving. Being together 24/7 comes with its arguments and fights but they are learning how to just be with each other and with their crazy little brother. They’re helping a lot with him, learning a little Spanish, surfing, writing in their journals, and meeting kids from all over the world who are staying here as well.

I’m letting us get pampered for this phase, and it feels really good.

Thanks for coming along, I hope your year is off to an amazing start! Is there anything specific you’d like me to share about while we’re in this phase? I was thinking about sharing my morning workouts and meditations, but let me know!
Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app Recently, I downloaded the Melissa Wood health app @melissawoodtepperberg @melissawoodhealth and so far I’m loving the workouts. I try and do one every morning. They’re super quick so sometimes I do two. I like that they are gentle but hard. They incorporate a lots of yoga, pilates, breathing, stretching, balancing and all that good stuff. You can see from the videos I’m pretty shaky in the first couple clips, that balance is tough but I’m building up my strength, I can feel it 💪🏻
