WAKING UP EARLY TO KEEP YOU SANE | SOMA PAJAMAS GIVEAWAY

7 Nov 2018 Outfit Posts, Style

pretty Soma pajamas, kitchen still under construction 🙂

Over the past couple of months I’ve been making a HUGE effort to wake up before my kids. I say HUGE because it takes commitment to set that alarm when all you want to do is stay in bed and catch some extra zzz’s.  I try and make up for that sleep at night by going to bed a little earlier, and the pay off of starting my day in peace is worth it. It puts me in a better mood throughout the day and makes me feel less stressed. Brian and Grace are usually up by seven so if I wake up at 6 I get an entire hour to myself and I use that time wisely. I splash some cold water on my face, brush my teeth and head downstairs in my jammies (currently LOVING these SOMA pajamas and make sure you read to the bottom of this post to learn how you can win a pair!). I set my diffuser up with my favorite wakeup blend, lemon and peppermint, pour a cup of coffee and sit down at our counter. If it’s nice out, I also make sure to step outside and take some time to take a few deep breaths and quiet my mind (I guess that’s my form of meditating?). I recently got this parenting devotional so I will read the excerpt for that day. One of the girls on my essential oils team recommended it and I love it. After that, I look at my planner and make a to-do list for the day and set some goals. By the time this is through my kids are usually stirring and it’s time to get breakfast on the table for them, and then my day begins!

I feel this practice will be especially helpful when the chaos of the holidays begins! Do you wake up earlier than your kids? What do you do? I wish I could be the workout first thing type but sadly I am so not there yet. I need coffee before anything!

Okay, onto the PJ’s!

As the weather turns and we get closer to spending more time indoors, I like to make sure I am stocked up on my favorite nighttime wear. Soma has been a brand I have worn and loved for a few years now.  Though I know it is tempting to use the mismatched sweatpants/old t-shirt combo for sleeping, I feel that a fresh pair of pajama’s can make you feel so good when you go to sleep and when you wake up in the morning.  I also like to spend lots of time in my PJ’s before I go to sleep and in the morning, I would live in them if I could 🙂

I got so many DM’s the last time I wore these pajamas in my stories and I am excited to give a pair to you! Right now, Soma is giving you the opportunity to enter for a chance to win a pair of their incredibly soft and cozy pajama’s daily through November 16th.  Three winners will be chosen each day to win a pair of their PJ’s (a different style of PJ each day).

TODAY ONLY you can enter to win the exact pair I am wearing!

To enter, visit the sweepstakes site here

Trust me when I say these PJ’s are incredibly soft and comfortable.  Their Cool Nights collection even helps you keep cool at night (the fabric is always cool to the touch).  They are available in a variety of prints and colors and would make a really great gift for the holidays!

So enter today to win yourself (or someone else) a pair of these amazing PJ’s and get ready for total comfort in style.

Thank you Soma for sponsoring today’s post!

‘tis the summer of “no” for me, which may so ‘tis the summer of “no” for me, which may sound odd, but let me explain…

This is the summer of protecting my energy, keeping the good vibes close, and only saying yes to doing the things that truly bring us joy. I have found in the past that my patterns are typically to say yes to whatever may sound like a fun opportunity at the time, even if it’s months in advance. I’m sure you can guess what usually ends up happening, but when that day comes, I dread having made the plans! Most of the time, I would rather be home with my family, enjoying the beach, having quiet nights, etc… Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good time, but I have found the older I get, the simpler I like my life to be. I crave the freedom of not being on anyone else’s schedule, I don’t like being expected to be anywhere, I want my kids to just be free to play with their friends, and simply just enjoy the everyday moments.

My perfect summer looks like this… swimming in our pool, being at the beach with our friends and family, gardening, keeping up with my veggie garden, making yummy dinners, barbecuing, happy hour at the beach, taking walks, drinking coffee on the porch, reading books, watching movies as a family on the couch, playing tennis with my girlfriends … this is all heaven to me. We’re working pretty hard during the days with Marea, so when I’m not working, this is what I love to be doing.

How about you? Do you crave the simplicity? Or do you like having plans? Mix of both?
